Roads to be closed on Sunday

THE POLICE are advising the public that several roads will be closed on Sunday, October 6, to facilitate the Jamaica Labour Party's mass rally at Half-way Tree Square.

According to the police, Hope, Winchester and Surbiton roads will be closed from 11 a.m. South Odeon Avenue-Eastwood Park Road, Eastwood Park Road-Derrymore Road, Constant Spring Road-South Avenue and Constant Spring Road-Derry-more Road will be closed at 2 p.m.

The road closures will result in the following changes:

Vehicles travelling eastward along Molynes Road will proceed northerly along Eastwood Park Road on to Constant Spring Road, or West Kings House Road.

Vehicles proceeding southerly along Constant Spring Road will turn left on to West Kings House Road, or left on to South Avenue.

Vehicles proceeding westerly along Hope Road will be diverted along Waterloo Road, or onto Trafalgar Road.

Vehicles proceeding northerly along Winchester Road will be diverted easterly along Hope Road, or on to Surbiton Road.

Vehicles carrying persons to the rally will be allowed to park at the following locations: Hope Road ­ between Winchester Road and Parish Place; Constant Spring Road, between Derry-more and Suthermere Roads; North Odeon Avenue between Constant Spring Road and Eastwood Park Road.

The police are advising motorists who do not have to stop in Half-Way Tree to use alternative routes.
