The Westmoreland Central People's National Party (PNP) incumbent, Dwayne Vaz, has expressed confidence ahead of this evening's close of the polls.

Speaking with The Gleaner after casting his vote this morning, Vaz said: "So far, so good. It's a little slow right now but we are expecting things to pick up nicely later in the day."

Vaz dipped his finger in ink approximately 10:10 a.m. at the Savanna-la-Mar High School.

The young politician is seeking to stave off a challenge from the Jamaica Labour Party's George Wright, who voted an hour earlier at the Sir Clifford Campbell Primary School.

"Interestingly enough, based on news we are getting, it would appear that the undecided voters have finally made up their minds and are breaking (leaning towards) the PNP. They realise that the PNP is the vehicle to take the constituency and Jamaica to a higher level of development," Vaz said, predicting that the margin of victory will be significant.
