St Catherine North Police Division ready for elections

THE ST. Catherine North Police conducted a swearing-in ceremony at the Spanish Town Police Station on Tuesday and yesterday with Inspector Alambe Johnson as co-ordinator, as part of preparations for today's Local Government Elections.

When The Gleaner visited the station on Tuesday afternoon, the police were handing out batons and vests to the Municipal Police (One Day Specials) as well as updating them on the rights of the citizenry on Election Day, they were sworn in to uphold provisions of the Representation of the People Act.

Inspector Johnson said that a total of 525 persons will be sworn in as Municipal Police for deployment all over St. Catherine, today. They will complement members of the regular force and its auxiliaries. He said that the process has been smooth thus far and the numbers dominated by women.

One Day Specials/Municipal police will be working in polling stations today.
