There is little excitement in the Portmore Municipality where the race is on for the only directly-elected Mayor in Jamaica.

The municipality is being contested by incumbent Keith Hinds (JLP) and challenger George Lee (PNP), himself a former mayor.

Independent candidate Alrick Davis is also seeking to become mayor.

Member of Parliament for St Catherine South East Colin Fagan, was among those in the ruling party bolstering support for the councillors in his constituency.

Fagan is expressing confidence ahead of the poll results that Lee will defeat Hinds and Councillor Alrick Campbell in the Edgewater division will be victorious.

Fagan said he expects the other PNP candidates to be successful as well.

The seats in the municipality are divisions in constituencies represented by Fagan, Fitz Jackson and Arnaldo Brown.
