St James voters say no thanks to free ride

WESTERN BUREAU:
With both major political parties fighting for control of the St James Parish Council in the second city, party workers have been trying to bring out as many voters as possible.

However, the electors have been showing little interest, in the process turning down offers for free rides to polling stations.

“We sent transportation around to pick up persons who we think would be interested in voting but even then, they are not taking up the offer,” said one party worker in the Cambridge Division who declined to be named.

Across the parish of St. James there has been very little activity at the polling stations.
