Trelawny independent confident of victory

At least one independent candidate is already claiming victory in today’s poll.

Paul Patmore, of the Lorrimers Division in south Trelawny, began claiming victory two hours before the close of polling.

This afternoon Patmore said he was confident of a win as his team’s polling tally was showing that he was ahead.

Unlike other independent candidates contesting the local government polls, Patmore had a full team of workers including indoor and outdoor agents.

His main contender, Steve Warren of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) declined to comment, saying he was busy while the People's National Party’s Kevin Guy could not be reached.

But it’s reported that some supporters of the candidates from both major political parties have already began expressing worry about the possible result.

Patmore was expelled from the JLP earlier this month after he was nominated to run as an independent candidate.
