A supporter of the Jamaica Labour Party was killed in a motor vehicle accident in St. Elizabeth yesterday afternoon.

According to the Constabulary Communication Network, 47-year-old Lloyd Richards was protruding from a minibus when his head was smashed in by a bamboo tree.

The minibus was transporting persons to a JLP meeting in Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland.

Reports are that on reaching a section of the Holland Bamboo main road, the driver of the minibus swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle and crashed into the bamboo tree.

Richards, who reportedly had the upper half of his body outside a window, was killed immediately on impact.
