Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) to release info on police under probe for car theft

The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is holding out until later this week to reveal the details regarding its members who are under investigation for car theft.

Last week, reports surfaced that a second member of Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller's security detail was being investigated for stealing a motor vehicle.

The police have not been able to find the bodyguard who is a woman.

While the police are reluctant to release much information about the incident, it is being alleged that the bodyguard, who has not turned up for work since late July, resigned recently. It is also being alleged that she has left the island.

Last month, Corporal Randolph Mullings, another member of the Prime Minister's security team, was arrested by the St. Thomas police for allegedly stealing a motor car.

However, speaking with The Gleaner yesterday, Karl Angell, director of communications for the JCF, said that at a planned media briefing on Thursday the details of the investigations will be released.

"The police have decided to give all the information on Thursday," Mr. Angell said.

It is expected that members of the Major Investigation Task Force and others of the Criminal Investigation Bureau will be at the briefing.
