While arguing against negative advertising, the PNP continues to attack the character and trustworthiness of JLP leader, Bruce Golding, as part of a clear strategy to dilute the mood for change which various polls indicate.
One such attack ad, 'Bruce's gunmen', opens with text across the screen: 'If shark say shark deh a sea bottom den ah so it go!'
Then there is Bruce Golding saying, "I was associated with gunmen, it's not a crime to be associated with gunmen an they were unsavoury characters they served their purpose which was to keep the PNP out of the community!"
The next scene shows a woman standing in open space, saying, "Dis ya shark ah talk pon shark, heh heh!!!
This ad would certainly give PNP supporters something to savour. However, more independent voters (which both parties need to win) would recognise that the problem of political violence and the tribalism of garrison politics transcends any individual politician and is, indeed, an endemic problem.
